Effect of Foliar Application of Paclobutrazol on Vegetative Growth , Fruit quality and Storage Behavior in ¢¥ Okubo ¢¥ Peach [ Prunus persica (L.) Batsch ]

Abstract
Paclobutrazol was applied to foliar application in order to investigate the effects on vegetative growth, fruit quality and storage behavior in 5-year-old `Okubo¢¥ peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch]. Post-bloom application of single spray of 1,000 ppm paclobutrazol was the same effective in controlling of vegetative growth as that of double sprays of 500 ppm. Foliar applications of paclobutrazol provided shoot growth suppression of 20¡30% of the control and significantly reduced no. of secondary branches. Shoot growth inhibition by paclobutrazol was continued even in the second season. Paclobutrazol significantly reduced the length of petiole but did not affect leaf area, leaf size and chlorophyll content. Paclobutrazol did not affect fruit quality and storage behavior.
